Employment Placement Agencies: An Expansive Definition

from:

The continuous patronage and advancement of employment placement agencies makes it a lucrative industry to be in. People will always seek work. Businesses will always seek manpower. Even with the unstoppable progression of modern technology (and the fruitless yet recurring threat of an all automated work force,) employment placement agencies are still doing brisk business. In fact, this industry is projected to even grow more in the future; and thereby provide more jobs to a waiting work-seeking population.

Employment placement agencies cater to a host of job seekers. Permanent jobs require people with college degree or higher. Temp jobs often require only a high school diploma; although some temp jobs become an entry point into the company’s workforce. Some job seekers take up temp jobs only to supplement their income from another job.

Business establishments can be considered employment placement agencies if they:
• Engage primarily in listing employment vacancies
• Engage in the referral of applicants for specified jobs in the listings and/or
• Engage in the installation or “placement” of applicants for the specified job in a specified business

Applicants of employment placement agencies are job seekers and are not workers or employees of these agencies.

There are many types of employment placement agencies. It depends on their specialization or their market corner. Some agencies have

• Consultation in executive searches and recruitments. They also provide advice and assistance to various businesses with:
o Employee administration, benefits planning and communication
o Human resource related policies, practices and procedures
